We’ve spotted a few fall webworms around the farm. These worms are the larvae of large moths, and they create webbed nests in the limbs of a variety of trees. Webworms can be pesky: they chew leaves, and can defoliate trees.

If you’re having trouble with webworms taking over a tree, try one of our Bull’s-Eye Bioinsecticide or Green Step II Caterpillar Control. Both are based in naturally-occurring bacteria that kill specific pests. Green Step contains Bacillus thuringiensis, which will cause damage to worm populations, but won’t harm beneficial insects, birds or earthworms. Bull’s-Eye contains Spinosad, which will, similarly, not cause significant damage to other insect populations but will kill off worms.
Looking for a quick fix? Try just cutting the worms out of the affected trees.
